About Millar Trost Legal
Toowoomba Legal Firm
Millar Trost Legal was founded by Elizabeth Millar and Michelle Trost with a clear and deliberate focus: to provide expert, client-centred legal services in the areas of law that matter most in people’s lives, family law, Wills and estates, and related property transactions.
Both founders bring decades of experience in their respective fields, but what drives the firm is something beyond credentials alone. It is the recognition that the law intersects with people at their most vulnerable, through separation, loss, family conflict, and uncertainty about the future, and that quality legal advice in these moments can make a profound difference to your future, and how well you come out the other side.
Millar Trost Legal was built on the belief that great legal representation should not require compromise. That clients deserve both meticulous legal strategy and genuine human support. That the right outcome is not just the legally correct one, but the one that protects your wellbeing, your family, and your future.

What is an Accredited Specialist?
Not all lawyers can hold themselves out as Specialists in their field of Law, and in fact there are strict rules which apply and potential penalties for those who do, and who are not qualified to do so.
In fact, in Queensland and most of the other States and Territories of Australia, only lawyers who have practiced for a certain period and additionally undertaken the gruelling process of Accreditation through the Law Society in their State or Territory, can hold themselves out to the public as a Specialist in their chosen field.
Each year, the Law Society offer eligible lawyers the opportunity to undertake further study and examinations to prove that they have exceptional knowledge, skills and expertise in their chosen field. Each year only a very small percentage of lawyers pass the demanding assessments and examinations to go on to become Specialists, and some lawyers never pass despite numerous attempts.
Once Accredited there are also strict rules which apply to the lawyer, which require them to undertake additional legal education each year to maintain their knowledge, and they must also continue to maintain a certain percentage of their practice in their chosen field in order to remain Accredited.
Therefore, if you see this symbol beside a lawyer’s name, you can be assured that your lawyer has met the requirements to be Accredited Specialist in their field of law.
